Los Duendes – a band that mixes hot southern climates: flamenco and latino, with elements of improvisation, will put you in a carnival mood. You will hear well-known hits in new arrangements as well as original compositions.
Los Duendes is an international band playing music from the borderland of flamenco, latino, with elements of improvisation, which was established in 2018 in Wrocław. “Duende” is an elf, dwarf, a small magical creature inhabiting space on the border between reality and fantasy, present in the legends of many cultures since the dawn of time. In flamenco culture, “to have a duende” means to have a special talent for singing or playing an instrument. It is an artistic soul reflected in art. A magical and authentic element. The program includes original songs and, among others from the repertoire of Vicente Amigo, Ray Heredia (Ketama) or Niña Pastori. Members of the band Los Duendes: Borja Soto (Spain): vocals, Piotr Łyszkiewicz (Poland): wind instruments, Rainer Maria Nero (Austria): guitar, Osmar Pegudo (Kuba): percussion instruments.
The band’s leader is Borja Soto, currently the only Spanish flamenco singer living in Poland, from Seville. He has been performing in Poland since 2013 in various formations within such events as: Unfinished House / European Songs as part of the cycle European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016, Jazz in Palaces – Moszna Castle, Duende Festival in Poznań, Polish Dance Platform, Folk Inspirations Łódź, Ethno Jazz Festival Wrocław, European Capital of Culture – inauguration 2016, Music Festival in Bukowiec, International Folklore Festival in Zielona Góra, BRAVE Together. Artistic director of the Flamenco Evenings concert series.
Piotr Łyszkiewicz is a saxophonist, composer and music producer. He collaborated with Marcin Świetlicki, Artur Rojek, Mala Koteluk, Krzysztof Zalewski, rapper James Izcray, Barbara Wrońska, Oksana Predko, Kasia Klimczyk, Abduloulay Badji, music producers Bartosz and Marek Dziedzic, bands The Dumplings and Sorry Boys. Member of Mitch & Mitch, P.K.P. Trio, Second Exit, Tango & Cash, 3 Jets. Has collaborated with the following bands: Małe Instrumenty, The Kurws, Ziemia Planeta Ludenu, Ballads and Romances.
Rainer Maria Nero is an Austrian-Polish guitarist, composer and lecturer. In 2008-2011 he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under the direction of the outstanding Alexander Swete. In the years 2014-2016 he studied in Murcia (Spain) under the guidance of flamenco guitarist Carlos Piñana, with whom he has played concerts all over the world since. In 2015, the artist released his debut album Castles of Spain, maintained in a classic style. Two years later, together with the band Flamensky he founded, he created the flamenco album Fantasias y Danzas, which contains only his own compositions. In October this year has released another album entitled Conmover.
Osmar Pegudo Álvarez is a Cuban drummer. He learned to play the drums with famous musicians in Cuba, such as Changuito and prof. Enrique Lazaga. In the years 2008–16 he played in several orchestras, of which the most important were Estrellas Cubanas and Grupo Cuba Libre. In 2017 he came to Poland as a musician of the orchestra José Torres and Havana Dreams. He participates in important music projects with well-known Polish and foreign artists, such as Project Santana Live by Leszek Cichoński, Moisés Bethencourt and The Cuban Latin Jazz.
Alberto Suazo Sanchez – originally from Coscomatepec, Veracruz, Mexico, he began his musical preparation largely self-taught based on ethnic instruments from his own country as well as the rest of Latin America. His participation in musical art has taken him to different stages around Mexico and Europe for approximately 16 consecutive years and now mainly in the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. A specialist in string instruments, percussion and winds.
